Covering a population of up to 350,000 we have a budget of nearly £550 million and employ around 1,100 staff. We work in close partnership with local government, community groups, patients and our own staff.
The Ealing Paediatric Occupational Therapy Service is an integral part of the Ealing Service for Children with Additional Needs (ESCAN) which integrates different health, education and social services for children. The central base of the service is at Carmelita House near to Ealing Broadway. There is a high level of integration and collaboration between different health, education and social care services.
The service adopts a matrix staffing structure with 5 Clinical Specialist (Band 8a) and 7 Band 7 therapists who lead on different aspects of the service delivery. The service has been highly successful in getting funding from different agencies, with an establishment of 22 staff. Regular CPD programmes and supervision structure are in place.
Different clinical pathways and packages of care are developed for different care groups of children. All staff are encouraged to be involved or led different service development and clinical governance activities. The team is also very keen to deliver service based on research evidence and best practice guidelines. We are constantly reviewing and modifying the way we work.
We are looking for a team player who has relevant clinical experience in working with children or related care groups to join the service. You will need to have good communication skills and experience in working within a multi-disciplinary team. Experience in interagency collaboration work will be beneficial but not essential.
Your caseload will be depended on your current clinical experience, special interest and also demands of the service. Therefore, you could be based either at Carmelita House or in one of the special schools in Ealing. Regular supervision and support will be provided by a Band 7 Advanced Paediatric Occupational Therapist.
