Details: Located in a diverse and dynamic central London community, we provide our services through a broad spectrum of locally based community, inpatient and day care facilities using a person centred approach to aid independence and recovery. Camden & Islington Foundation NHS Trust services include adult mental health, mental health care of older people, substance misuse services and care for people with learning disabilities.
Applications are invited to apply for a 10 Programmed Activity (PA) consultant post in substance misuse. The duties will be split between the Islington Drug & Alcohol Specialist Service, currently based on 2 sites (IDASS south at 309 Grays Inn Road and IDASS north at 592 Holloway Road) and HMP Pentonville on the Caledonian Road. The successful applicant will join a Substance Misuse Services (SMS) team of 4 consultants (some part-time). The substance misuse services are a progressive, expanding care group within the new Foundation Trust. They provide a wide range of clinical services to the residents of Camden and Islington. The Trust won the contract to take over the prison detoxification, stabilisation and maintenance services at the prison in April 2009. Primary care and mental health services at the prison are now provided for by a consortium of Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust, NHS Islington and Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust. The post-holder will play a key role in implementing the Integrated Drug Treatment System (IDTS) at the prison and expanding delivery of drug treatment services to the new 130 bed detoxification and stabilisation wing at the prison and the provision of substance misuse services to prisoners in ordinary location outside the specialist unit. Whilst the Islington service is a newly configured and re-specified service for clients with more complex substance misuse needs. The post-holder will be expected to take part in appraisal, supervision of junior staff, teaching, service governance and administrative activities.
