We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated clinical psychologist to enhance the team’s multi-disciplinary skill base and contribute to the provision of a high quality service to people aged 18-35 with a first episode of psychosis.
THEIS is an early intervention in psychosis service for young adults experiencing severe mental health difficulties for the first time. We provide a range of psychosocial interventions working within the care programme approach in collaboration with service users, carers and other relevant agencies. The interventions are offered in individual, group and family contexts, and commonly require an outreach approach.
Early intervention for psychosis services aim to reduce the prevalence and impact of schizophrenia by reducing the duration of untreated psychosis and engaging clients in training and work as well as offering support and counselling.
THEIS helps service users to regain confidence, maximise quality of life and avoid relapse by offering support and counselling during the critical three-year period following the first episode. We work to an assertive outreach model in order to establish initial contact. Goals are agreed to meet clients’ individual needs including education, employment, independent housing, social participation, physical health and finances. Support is offered in individual and group contexts and in collaboration with other services as appropriate.
You will be closely involved with the large and lively Psychology Department to ensure continuing professional development. Within the Adult Mental Health Psychology Team a diversity of approaches are promoted, including CBT, psychodynamic, systemic and group analytic, supported by excellent peer and specialist supervision. We have a strong commitment to CPD and have close links with the local training courses.
