An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the
Oncology Health Centre at Castle Hill Hospitals, Kingston-upon-Hull. This unique multidisciplinary
centre for the provision of psycho-oncology services is located in the new, award winning, Queen’s Centre for Oncology & Haematology, and continues to attract national and international interest. This innovative service is fully integrated with wider oncology provision. Around 2,400 new patients, and almost as many new relatives, attend each year.
The successful applicant will be a Clinical Psychologist, eligible for appointment at
Consultant Clinical Psychologist level (AFC Band 8b). Along with the 2 other clinical psychologists and the 5 Clinical Nurse Specialists (Behavioural Oncology), the post-holder will provide a clinical service for inpatients and outpatients with all types of cancer, and their families. A broad spectrum of psychotherapeutic interventions is practised in the Centre. Applicants should be able to demonstrate the ability to work flexibly and effectively with other members of the team. The post holder will make a significant contribution to teaching and the research programme that is being carried out within the auspices of the Centre. This is an exciting opportunity for clinical psychologists with an interest in psycho oncology to develop their skills at the Consultant level within a large and uniquely integrated psycho-oncology service.
** ATTENTION CURRENT NHS EMPLOYEES - CHANGE TO LOCAL HOURS PROTECTION **
All new staff, re-entrants to the NHS, staff who move to a new post outside their job-family and staff promoted to a higher pay band within the NHS will commence on the new harmonized full-time hours of 37½ per week (part-time staff to commence on the posts advertised hours but will be paid pro-rata to 37½.
Staff who are transferring to a new post within the Trust, or whom are joining the Trust from NHS organizations where they were directly employed will, if they move to a post within the same job family on the same pay band during the protection period, have their current hours protected for the phased protection periods as set out in the Agenda for Change Terms and conditions Handbook. If this is not the case then the new hours will apply. The protection does not cover any bank service within the NHS.
