Dorset Community Health Services is the Provider Arm of Dorset Primary Care Trust and our aim is to be an innovative and responsive provider, delivering high quality integrated care to make a positive difference to the health, well-being and independence of the people in Dorset.
This post is available for an experienced Specialist Clinical Psychologist (band 8a) or newly qualified Specialist Clinical Psychologist (band 7, progressing to band 8a through preceptorship arrangements).
The post-holder will provide Adult Mental Health assessment and therapy services to people living in the Bridport and Weymouth areas of Dorset. The post-holder will work with multidisciplinary staff in the provision of psychological therapies to people in secondary care as services develop within a recovery framework. Dependent on interests and experience there may also be opportunity for contribution to access and well being services as they develop within primary care settings.
Clinical psychologists in West Dorset are professionally and centrally managed and regular individual and peer supervision will be provided. There is some opportunity for engaging in research and specialist interests as the PTS is developing services in a number of areas including substance misuse, family interventions, cognitive analytic therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, early intervention in psychosis as well as services relating to rehabilitation and inpatients. The PTS incorporates IAPT developments with counsellors and high and low intensity therapists. The service has close working links with the Exeter University Doctoral Course in Clinical and Community Psychology including teaching and placement provision.
The newly establishing Psychological Therapies Service is based in Dorchester and West Dorset is mainly rural. Therefore, a car driver essential subject to the provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and 2005. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
