Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Trust was launched on 1st April 2006. The Trust is one of the largest mental health and learning disability NHS Trusts in the country. The Trust provides a wide spectrum of mental health, learning disability, neuro-rehabilitation, forensic and substance misuse services previously provided by three separate Trusts, as well as other specialist services. The Trust has several nationally renowned services, including specialist services for adults with refractory mental illness; mental health services for young people with a learning disability; psychotherapy services; neuropsychiatry; a mother and baby inpatient service and drug and alcohol services for both adults and young people.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Consultant in Adult psychiatry -Planned care. We are looking to appoint a Consultant Psychiatrist to work into the west community mental health team in South Tyneside. The CMHT works with people with complex mental health problems.
The post holder will be based with the team and will provide Senior Medical input as well as having an important clinical leadership role. They will work closely with other specialist teams within the locality which has a growing reputation for innovative working and training.
The post holder will be expected to participate in the on-call rota, which currently attracts remuneration at 3%.
Applicants will hold the MRCPsych qualification or equivalent, have entry onto the Specialist Register (or be within six months of CCT), and will be approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 (or be eligible to become approved).
