Parole Commissioners [Part-time appointments]

Is it better for the public to keep an individual in prison or release them back into society under rigorous supervision and strict conditions? The Parole Commissioners for Northern Ireland are critical to the process of deciding whether offenders eligible for parole are safe to release back into the community. Being a Parole Commissioner is a demanding but ultimately rewarding role where public protection is always paramount. Could you make independent judgments based on painstaking risk assessment?

You’ll study highly detailed information and expert advice and hear oral evidence from prisoners and others. You’ll need the objective distance to come to a robust decision. The role also demands unshakable integrity, listening skills and the ability to put forward balanced views to your colleagues.

Your commitment would be around 30 days a year, with training, expenses and remuneration provided (see our website for details).

For more information on what we do and how to join us please visit: www.independentNIparole.co.uk If you’d like to talk to us, phone Áine Brolly or Emma Emsley at Penna Executive Recruitment on 028 90764700.
Closing date: Friday, 27th February 2009 at 5pm.

We are committed to providing equal opportunities for all. Appointments are based on merit with independent assessments, openness and transparency of process. As women are under-represented in the current body of Commissioners, we particularly welcome applications from women.
